Evil Xmas Fayre
Arts Co and Pure Evil have joined forces to invite street and contemporary artists to take over The East Room and Sosho for three weeks of festive creativity and revelry commencing with the Evil Xmas Fayre on the 5th and 6th December.
As well as a sales exhibition of original art and prints, the artists will let the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future loose across both buildings. Experience Christmas hell at Sosho – the walls will be wheat-pasted by an army of Santa’s dark helpers (a mystery line up of London’s best street artists) or visit the Xmas Squat, a credit crunch vision of seasonal cheer in fictional Grimesby. The squat is an art installation by Luc Price, aka Cyclops, fresh from his recent show ‘Jesus Help Me Find My Proper Place’ at Black Rat Press.
Next door at The East Room make your own snowglobe in the magical Snowglobe Lounge or wander amongst the FIRtive Forest where you can also sample toffee vodka and cheese fondue from the rooftop Pop-up Alpine Lodge. After feasting at the Christmas BBQ on the terrace, indulge in afternoon tea with cupcake sensations Cherry on Top and ATTIC Tea.
The Evil Xmas Fayre, which is a twisted take on a traditional European Christmas fair, takes place between 12 and 5pm at The East Room and Sosho on the 5th and 6th December. Indulge in some festive tastes and pick up some real art bargains from street art luminaries and emerging talent, including Beatrice Brown, Deadbeat Donny, Ged Wells, Hornhead, Joanna Imrie, Ortiz, Panik, Pure Evil and Soozy Lipsey. The Art Car Boot Fair will host a section of the fayre with all manner of art works, art ware and services from regular art car booters.
The House of Fairy Tales’ band of artists, performers, writers, designers, musicians and film makers will explore the magic, myth and story of Christmas by The East Room fireplace and London’s newest cultural space The Museum of Everything will create a pitch of Xmas absurdia – where anything and everything goes.
On your way out grab a 3D jigsaw-cut Christmas tree sprayed by a street artist from The East Room’s flatbed truck or take home a stocking – full or not so full – depending on how much you love your family and friends, with fayre art.
