Jazz FM and Aberdeen Asset Management have joined forces for the first time to present free Christmas swing concerts taking place every lunch time right in the heart of the City. From 13th – 15th December, 12-2pm, with a special evening concert on 14th December from 5.45 – 7.45pm, The Henry Armburg Jennings Big Band will be playing swing carols with young and vibrant vocalist Atila, singing well-loved Rat Pack tunes and Christmas classics from Let it Snow to Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire.
Henry has been leading the jazz trumpet revolution in this country, playing at some of the most sought after venues in London such as the Jazz Cafe, the Royal Albert Hall, 100 Club, Ronnie Scott’s and many more. He released his debut album this year to much critical acclaim and last summer he launched The Henry Armburg Jennings Big Band Grange Park Opera to a sold-out audience. He is the youngest big band leader in Europe and his playing is revered by many.
Meanwhile, Atila began singing at the age of 15 with local big band, Young Jazz, and in 2002 he was invited to work with the UK National Youth Jazz Orchestra performing nationwide and overseas to great acclaim. In April 2006 Atila toured with the legendary Buddy Greco and earned a new fan in the process. Buddy said, “I was knocked out by Atila. He has the voice and the class to show the world what great music is all about”.
