The world’s first stiletto to be made entirely from gold and diamonds has been launched by British jewellery designer, Christopher Michael Shellis. Each pair of Eternal Diamond Stilettos is handcrafted from solid gold, then lavishly encrusted with 2,200 brilliant cut diamonds, totalling 30 carats, by the goldsmiths and stone setters at bespoke jewellers, the House of Borgezie.
The creation has taken more than three years of intensive development by Shellis. Speaking at the launch, he said, “To bring the Eternal Diamond Stiletto to life, I quite literally had to reinvent the fundamental principle of classical stiletto construction. The result is not so much a shoe, but rather a fine piece of jewellery that can be miraculously yet practically worn as the ultimate feminine adornment.”
Perfect for summer balls, society weddings and red carpet events, the Eternal Diamond Stiletto is the culmination of a life dedicated to jewellery design by Shellis. In realising his dream of creating the quintessential statement of sartorial perfection, he had to submit five new patents. One of the patent-pending design features of the Eternal Diamond Stiletto is the stamen fluted heel, drawing inspiration from the elegant stamens of a lily.
Retailing from £100,000, the Eternal Diamond Stiletto comes with a lifetime guarantee. Potential customers will be able to view samples online and request a consultation appointment for measuring and design purposes. Each pair of Eternal Diamond Stilettos takes four weeks to create.
