Celebrated fashion designer Christian Louboutin has created a crystal champagne flute in the shape of a high-heeled shoe, featuring his famous red sole. The flute has been designed for the luxury party champagne, Piper-Heidsieck.
The crystal shoe celebrates the historic French tradition of ‘Le Rituel’ which involved a man drinking from a woman’s shoe; the ultimate in aristocratic partying and a declaration of love and lust. Nowadays, that type of behaviour is relegated to X-rated porn films. How times have changed…
The Louboutin champagne flute and a special edition bottle of Piper-Heidsieck Brut Cuvée are now available from Selfridges stores nationwide. The shoe makes a nice display piece, but priced at £350 per boxset, it would be quite costly to buy enough shoe-glasses for a dinner party. Alternatively, fashionistas can enjoy drinking champagne from the shoe at the Bond Street bar, Mews of Mayfair. It will certainly turn heads.
Louboutin has chosen to grace this shoe with a 14 cm heel, the champagne being contained in the lower part of the glass. The flute is handmade and cut in Slovenian crystal.
