This is so odd we almost didn’t include it, but as it’s for a good cause, we thought, what the heck? Britain’s first and most prestigious shopping arcade, the stunning Burlington Arcade, will be giving shoppers the opportunity to preview shoes which have been donated by A-list stars for the Macmillan ‘In Their Shoes’ ball. The ball, which takes place on Thursday 19 November, will raise money to help Macmillan reach and improve the lives of people affected by cancer, by auctioning off the celebrity shoes.
Visitors to the Arcade between Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 18 November can view the shoes donated by stars including Kylie, Rod Stewart, Cindy Crawford, Kevin Spacey, Denise Van Outen, Christian Louboutin and even cricket hero Andrew Strauss’ Ashes winning footwear. Those who would like to bid, should visit www.macmillanball2009.co.uk or attend the Macmillan ‘In Their Shoes’ ball on Thursday 19 November.
One pair of shoes will be placed in several of the shop windows, to create a glamorous shoe trail through the Arcade which this year celebrates its 190th birthday. The Arcade is the perfect backdrop to showcase the exclusive shoes having recently completed a multi-million pound renovation, restoring it to its former splendor. Bet they never thought they’d be displaying second-hand shoes.
Tickets to the Macmillan ‘In Their Shoes’ ball are limited and available from Hayley Foster at London Special Events on 0207 840 4800 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
